User Group Permission to Sync Manually

User Group Permission to Sync Manually

Synchronisations manage updating the Redbrick Portal, as well as downloading items from the portal and other Thirdparty APIs (Such as Thirdfort or TMConnect). Syncronisations are done on a schedule, depending on your set up, usually every 20 minutes to 1 hour.

Synchronising Manually can be useful, as you don't need to wait for the next scheduled Synchronisation, but it does take a few minutes. Therefore if all your users have access to do it, they may tie up your bandwidth by multiple users doing it at once. The following article shows you how to set up the users and groups you want to have this permission.

Users are sorted into groups that can be set up to have different levels of access to the system. For instance, Standard Users do not have access to the Options menu, whereas Administrators and Super Administrators do. The groups can be accessed below the users section in the options screen.

Most users will only require Standard User permissions.

Administrators will require Administrators permissions.

WarningSuper Administrator is not required for users, this is for Redbrick.

You can either add new group, or edit an existing group. Both will bring up the same options. You can name the Group and Add/Remove Users from the first tab (Users).

You can choose the rights of the group on the second tab (Permissions). Tick accordingly then click on the Save button.

You can also untick items and Save.

The ability to allow a user group to manually synch the Redbrick database is located as indicated

Notes
The permissions are laid out via subject prefix's from version 29 of Redbrick onwards, as per below. For versions prior to v29 the permission is called 'Can synchronise manually' as can be seen as such in earlier screenshots
