From version 28 onwards the 'information panel' to the left of Redbrick has been redesigned to be more user friendly and readable.
There is a handy Keyword Find box at the top of the Information Panel to assist speedy location of whatever you need. As you type the keyword search will find any matching data within the information panel for matter you are currently in.
If you type a keyword and then click on the binoculars icon the search will be a system wide one including all other matters in your database (more on this below)
Anything you type in the box will result in instant live searching of the information, removing all information that doesn't match the search term. In the below example 'mobile' has been typed, and the results were instantly remove everything else as the word was typed.
As the results are live you may only have to type part of what you need to get the desired result (depending on your optimisation settings). For example, if you have multiple matters for a client and need to quickly search their other matters, typing part of the address will filter out the results for you. The below screenshot shot shows a partial search for 55 Lithos Road returning the result.
This also works for searching for specific documents without the need to go into the Document Screen.
The Keyword Find box is particularly helpful to perform fast system-wide searches should you need to quickly jump into another matter. Say you are working on a case and you receive a phone call from a different client. Rather than leave your matter to go to the Find screen (which can contain a lot of data displayed), you can perform a system Keyword Find box. Type the caller's name into the box and click on the binoculars symbol to perform the search.
In the below example we are in the matter for Dr Rouge Testbrick.
Our client Sam Beckett calls, so we type Beckett into the Keyword Find and click on the binoculars
All matters for Sam Beckett have been returned and can either be opened as a new tab (the first / left arrow) or replace the matter you are in (the second / right arrow).
In order to best optimise the Keyword Find there are some setting available to adjust how the search operates i.e. how may results are returned and whether a full or partial match are required.
