Default Parties

Default Parties

You can set Default Parties at a Matter Type level, so that the party is always added to a matter whenever a new matter is opened.

This is typically used if you have internal Party types, such as the Accounts or Post Completion department. If added as a Default Party this will allow you to generate document / email templates to that party. An example use case would be using task triggers and document templates to automatically generate an email to your accounts department attaching any financial documents that you need them to review and approve, thus saving you some time.

First ensure that the desired Party Type exists within Redbrick and is associated with the desired Matter Type. The standard Party Types already will be (such as Solicitor, Client, Agent, etc). In the above example as there may not be an 'Accounts' Party Type you would first need to create this.

Info
For more assistance on Adding Other Party Types please the Help Centre search accordingly

Go into Options menu and navigate to the Matter Type against which you wish to set the Default Party.

Next, click on 'Add' and select the desired Party Type

Select the Party you wish to be added to every newly opened Matter in this type by default. If the Party does not exist, you can create it in the normal way by clicking on 'New'

Once the Party has been selected it will be added to the list of Default Other Parties.

The next time you open a new matter in the applicable work type you will note that the Party is listed in the 'Purchase - Parties & Reference' section of the New Job Wizard

Once you have finished opening your matter, the Default Party will already exist within the Other Parties section.

Notes
This will not add the default party to any existing matters, only new ones
