Sometimes after a Redbrick questionnaire has been been set up you may decide that you'd rather the question was in a different location. Alternatively, you may wish to create a new questionnaire but don't want to have to redo a bunch of questions that you have already got elsewhere in an existing questionnaire.
The solution is to use the cut / copy / paste tools within the Questionnaire section of Redbrick. Please note that if you have matter type specific tokens within the question rows and you want to paste the them into a different matter type (i.e. from a Purchase to a Sale) then you will need to edit the tokens once posted. You will know if a token is matter specific as it will have the name of the token within it (see example, below).
First, navigate to the questionnaire you want to copy or cut questions from and click on Edit. These are matter type specific and the example below shows a Purchase matter questionnaire.
Once within your questionnaire, tick the left hand Select boxes of question(s) you wish to move or copy.
and on the right hand side of the window;
'Cut Row(s)' and 'Copy Row(s)' are now available to select. Click on the former if you want to move the questions elsewhere, else click on Copy if you want to duplicate them. The question rows will now be copied to your clipboard, including any tokens, values, or tickbox selections set. Please note that this process puts the code for the question(s) on your clipboard. There if you select and copy anything else before moving on to the next steps the code will be lost and you will need to repeat this process.
Once you have made your selection the 'Paste Rows(s)' button will become available and the Cut / Copy buttons will grey out.
Now navigate to your end destination. In the first example below this is to a later page in the same questionnaire which you will see is currently blank.
Once Paste Rows is clicked, the questions copied / cut will be pasted.
N.B. If the Paste Row(s) button is not available then try clicking away from the page tab you are in and coming back again, clicking Add Row to create a blank question first, or both. If this does not work then you may need to copy the question(s) again. If you cut them and they haven't returned to their original position then exit the Questionnaire without saving (i.e. click 'Cancel' at the bottom right) and try again.
In the second example, below, we have navigated away from this questionnaire to a brand new one. Once in the desired location, repeat the same 'paste' process as above.
Click paste to place your question(s).
A good technique if you want to copy from one matter type to another is to have two versions of Redbrick open at the same time side to side so that you can quickly copy and paste from one to the other.
