Resetting Tasks

Resetting Tasks

Whenever you open a new matter in Redbrick the tasks are created by populating from the Task Templates. If an administrator makes any changes to the existing task templates after a matter is created then these will be immediately reflected in the case.

However, if any new task templates are created these will not pull into existing matters. Therefore what you need to do is tell the case to repull from the templates and this can be done by clicking on the 'Reset Tasks' button on the far right of the Progress screen (or right clicking on a task and selecting 'Reset Tasks').

Reset Tasks - right click option

When you select 'reset tasks' you will asked to set a 'Start Date'. This is asking for you to set the date that the file started, so that the Target Dates of the tasks can be calculated. The date displayed will default to the date that the matter was originally opened in Redbrick, but if you are "Restarting" a file, you could set that to todays date.

When happy with the Start Date, click on Reset. The following window will pop up and give you two options. Please note that neither option can be undone, so ensure you pick correctly.

Reset & RETAIN history will reset all UNTICKED tasks and pull in any newly created task templates. Any tasks you have already ticked or marked as 'not required' up to this point will remain unaffected i.e. their completed date, notes, and internal notes will remain the same. If you are not an administrator this will most likely be the option you need in order to ensure any newly created tasks appear in your matter.

Reset & DELETE history will reset every single task back to their default state. All ticked tasks will therefore be unticked, all notes / internal notes wiped, all completed dates removed, and any tasks crossed out as 'not required' put back to required, etc.
